A leading German manufacturer of dairy products manufactures very large quantities of fruit yoghurt and other products in different flavours in a newly constructed factory.
Yoghurt production requires large quantities of pectin, starch and sugar to give the yoghurt the optimal consistency and the desired taste. These (powdered) products are delivered in sacks and emptied manually into transport containers. This always produces dust, which needs to be extracted directly at the site of creation whenever possible.
The manufacturer uses multiple Ruwac extraction systems to handle this task. One is installed above the filling station of a cooking kettle. Employees add sugar on one side, while adding fruit simultaneously to the other. The displaced air volume is suctioned and first guided through a type NA 250 wet separator, then through a stationary, fixed DA 1300 deduster (for Ex zone 22) with activated carbon filter.
A custom extraction system designed for the specific application was installed on a second production system. It extracts dusts through large suction cups, preventing them from entering the atmosphere or the surrounding environment. This system, which consists of two modules for the sake of redundancy, is also designed for use in Ex zone 22.
